Dr. Rahmim is Associate Professor of Radiology and Electrical & Computer Engineering at the Johns Hopkins University. He received his M.Sc. in condensed matter physics and Ph.D in medical imaging physics. Following doctoral studies, he was recruited to lead the high resolution brain PET imaging physics program at the Johns Hopkins University/Hospital, where he continues to conduct research in various areas of tomographic image generation and analysis, including brain, cardiac and oncologic applications. He has published a book, and over 100 journal articles & 200 conference proceeding papers/abstracts, and delivered more than 50 invited lectures worldwide. He has participated as principal investigator or co-investigator on a range of grants towards quantitative tomographic imaging, including translation to clinical applications. Dr. Rahmim lectures for ECE/BME students at the Johns Hopkins University as well as residents and post-doctoral fellows. He was elected as IEEE Senior Member in 2012, is Vice President of the Computer and Instrumentation Council (CaIC) of the Society of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging (SNMMI), and was awarded the John S. Laughlin Young Scientist Award by the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) in 2016.
